Make your own tea cosy!

With less than a week to run in our Tea Tent competition, time is running out to send us a picture of a tea cosy on your head for the chance to win an Afternoon Tea Hamper every month for a year!

But what of you folk who don’t own a tea cosy? Worry not, that’s no reason not to enter our competition. All it requires is for you to be a tad more creative – by making your own tea cosy from scratch!

We stumbled upon an excellent article online at the Guardian, written by top textile designer Lisa Stickley, explaining how to make a wonderful handcrafted tea cosy.

Feeling inspired, we decided to give it a go ourselves, and sure enough found it to be great fun! You can see the results of our  Tea Tent Tea Cosy below:

1. Gathering the material...

2. Cutting out the right shape – don’t forget the top loop!

3. Placing the two main body pieces together...

4. Stitching it all in place...

5. Our finished tea cosy! What do you think?

6. It's also reversible!

Want to give it a go yourself? Of course you do! You can read the full instructions here.

As for the competition, remember all you have to do is post your ‘My Tea Cosy as a Hat’ photo on our Facebook page or show us on Twitter @TeaTent using the hashtag #cosyhat, and we’ll choose the best one to win our Afternoon Tea for a Year hamper!
